The government order suspending ADGP M. R. Ajith Kumar alleged that he pressured subordinate officers to weaken the investigation into an assault on KSU and Youth Congress leaders during the 2023 Nava Kerala Yatra. A Special Investigation Team said his office influenced the inquiry and pushed officers towards filing a refer report for insufficient evidence. Investigators reportedly told the SIT that they faced pressure to close the case early.
