Amanda Knox has defended her Edinburgh Fringe stand-up show Cartwheel after criticism that it could trivialise violence surrounding the 2007 murder of Meredith Kercher. Kercher’s sister has backed a petition seeking cancellation, while Knox says the show addresses her own trauma and does not dishonour Kercher. Knox was initially convicted in Italy but was acquitted of the murder by the country’s highest court in 2015. The Fringe Society has defended the principle of allowing the performance to proceed.
