Amazon and Microsoft earnings push major US stock indices toward records
Strong technology earnings, particularly from Amazon and Microsoft, lifted investor confidence and pushed major U.S. stock indices close to record levels. Amazon shares rose sharply after Amazon Web Services reported 37% year-on-year sales growth, while Microsoft also gained as investors saw stronger returns from its AI spending. The S&P 500 closed at 7,600, nine points below its record close, the Dow reached a record 53,183 and the Nasdaq Composite advanced to 25,913. The rally reflects growing focus on whether heavy AI investment is producing measurable profits.
