Forest Department starts collating all illegally geo-tagged locations in Kerala forests

Kerala’s Forest Department has begun compiling a list of illegally geo-tagged locations inside forests. Officials are concerned that social-media posts and navigation links are drawing visitors to ecologically sensitive or dangerous areas without permission. The exercise aims to identify and remove misleading location data, prevent trespass and reduce rescue incidents. Authorities may also act against organised promotion of unauthorised trekking and tourism.
