Kerala has removed the income ceiling that restricted access to pay-ward facilities in government hospitals. The change allows patients to use paid accommodation in government health institutions without being excluded solely because their family income is above a prescribed limit. The move is intended to widen access to available pay-ward beds while retaining regular public hospital services. Hospital-level availability and other applicable rules will continue to govern admission to the facilities.
