President Droupadi Murmu gave assent to the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026. The amended law raises punishment for individuals involved in paper leaks or unfair means to five to ten years in prison and a fine of up to ₹50 lakh. Organised offences can draw at least seven years and fines up to ₹10 crore. The law identifies 15 prohibited acts, including leaking papers, tampering with OMR sheets and creating fake examination websites or admit cards.
