Spain has installed a maritime barrier along part of Ceuta’s border with Morocco after a mass frontier rush left 67 people dead. The structure is intended to prevent dangerous sea crossings and improve control around the enclave, but humanitarian groups warn that tougher barriers may push migrants towards riskier routes. Authorities also face demands for an investigation into the deaths, identification of victims and safer emergency procedures.
