A 13-year-old girl from Sugar Land, Texas, is recovering after a barracuda bit her arm during a family holiday in Turks and Caicos. A nurse on the beach used a tourniquet before the teenager received emergency treatment, and she later returned home for surgery to repair tendon damage. Claire Macdonel said the incident had not changed her ambition to become a marine biologist and urged swimmers to remove shiny jewellery.
