Trump imposes 15% US tariff on polysilicon-based imports
US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a 15% tariff on imported products made from polysilicon, a material used in semiconductors and solar panels. The order also establishes minimum import prices for polysilicon and related goods following a national-security investigation into overseas production. The measure is aimed largely at reducing dependence on Chinese supply. China’s embassy in Washington criticised the action, saying it disrupts trade, and said Beijing would defend the interests of its companies.
